It is with great excitement and enthusiasm that I write this message as your new principal. I am honored to have been selected to serve at Fairlands as your principal. In my tenure as Fairland’s Vice Principal I have observed Fairlands to be an exciting learning environment for students. The outstanding teachers, specialists, support staff, parent volunteers and wonderful students make Fairlands a special learning environment. I am ecstatic to have the opportunity to be a part of this positive academic atmosphere.
I want to take a moment to tell you a little about myself. I come to Fairlands having served as a Pleasanton School District teacher where I began my early teaching career at Alisal school teaching fifth grade for three years. I then taught third and fourth grades at Hearst Elementary School for four years. Following my dream to promote excellence in education, I moved to Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program (TVROP) where for nine years I taught a program course entitled, “The Developmental Psychology of Children”. The course is offered to high school students from Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin high schools. It is designed to prepare high school students for careers in teaching and working with children. While teaching at TVROP I also served in the administrative position of Program Coordinator. Of special note, I am very pleased to say that several of my former high school students are now teachers with two of my students currently teaching in Pleasanton schools.
On a personal level, my husband and I reside in Pleasanton with two of our four children. Our two older children are on their own; our oldest daughter graduated in June 2014 from Rocky Mountain College in Montana. My two younger children attend Pleasanton schools. I am avid about cooking, running, coaching, watching my children play sports, and family gatherings.
I look forward to getting to know all of the Fairlands family.
